Year 12

Teacher A: Heritage

 

 

 

Teacher B: The role of voluntary work

Students will learn the following:

Teacher A:

  • Understand the notion of heritage and preservation on a regional and national scale.
  • Consider the ways in which some of the country’s most famous heritage sites market themselves.
  • Comprehend how heritage impacts upon and is guided by culture in society.

Teacher B:

  • Examine the voluntary sector in France and the range of work volunteers provide
  • Discuss the benefits of voluntary work for those that are helped and how beneficiaries request help.
  • Look at the benefits of voluntary work for those that do it and for society as a whole.

Students will learn the following grammar points:

Teacher A:  

  • Adjective agreements / comparatives and superlatives
  • Use ‘si’ sentences- present and future
  • Use the subjunctive with expressions of doubt, uncertainty or necessity.

Teacher B:

  • Use connectives- temporal and causal.
  • Use the conditional and ‘si’ sentences- (imperfect and conditional)
Form and use the future tense.

Teacher A: French language cinema

 

 

 

Teacher B:
Contemporary Francophone music

Students will learn the following:

Teacher A:

  • Consider a variety of aspects of French cinema.
  • Consider the majn developments in the evolution of French cinema from its beginnings until the present day.
  • Consider the continuing popularity of French cinema and film festivals.

Teacher B:

  • Consider the popularity of contemporary francophone music and its diversity of genre and style.
  • Consider who listens to contemporary francophone music , how often and by what means.

Students will learn the following grammar points:

Teacher A:

  • Infinitive constructions
  • Si sentences (Pluperfect / Past / conditional)
  • Use connectives followed by the subjunctive.

Teacher B:

  • Question forms and command forms
  • Use the subjunctive to suggest possibility with verbs of wishing and emotional reaction.
  • Use the conditional

Teacher A:  Begin the study of the film module.

Students prepare for their  French exams in the following ways:

  • Revise every module-  especially key vocabulary and topical knowledge / facts / issues
  • Revisit each grammar point
  • Past papers in class and at home
  • Preparation for the speaking exam with assistant weekly.
  • Practise lots of translations into French and English.

Students begin to plan and research their chosen independent research topic.

  • Consider contrasting attitudes to people who are marginalized.

Teacher B:

  • Consider the benefits of living in an ethnically diverse society.

  • Consider how we can promote diversity to create a richer world.

Students will learn the following grammar points:

  • Form and use the imperfect tense.
  • Form and use the perfect tense.
  • Form and use the pluperfect tense.

Teacher B:

Study of the chosen film will continue, and study of the chosen novel will begin in September.

  • Discuss arguments relating to the vote and examine the French political system and its evolution.
  • Discuss engagement levels of young people and their influence on politics.

  • Examine different attitudes to crime.
  • Discuss prison and its merits and problems.
  • Consider alternative forms of punishment.

Teacher A:

  • Form and use the passive voice.
  • Form and use the subjunctive mood.
  • Use the subjunctive mood.

Teacher B:

  • Recognise and understand the past historic tense.

Teacher A: Protests and strikes- Who has the power?

 

Teacher B: Politics and immigration.

  • Talk about strikes and protests and consider different methods of protesting.
  • Discuss different attitudes towards strikes, protests and other political tensions.

Teacher B:

  • Discuss some of the political issues concerning immigration in francophone countries.
  • Consider viewpoints of political parties regarding immigration.
  • Consider immigration from the standpoint of immigrants as well as aspects of racism.
