Coursework, known as the Non-Examined Assessment (NEA), is worth 20% of your son's A Level qualification.

Students will go on a residential trip to Blencathra Field Study Centre (FSC) near Keswick in the Lake District.  This will be a three-day, two-night trip (Wednesday 5th to Friday 7th).  We will travel by school mini-bus.  Accommodation, meals and resources are included in the cost.

Wednesday 5^th June: Students meet at school at 07:30. Led by FSC staff, students will study glacial landforms and collect primary data to inform potential NEAs.  Students will then attend workshops to complete statistical analysis.

Thursday 6th June:  Students will investigate the carbon cycle and carbon capture.  

Friday 7^th June: Students will spend the day investigating the Water Cycle and rivers.  We aim to return to school at around 17:30.  

Monday 10^th and Tuesday 11^th June: Students will undertake local human fieldwork for two days in and around Greater Manchester. 

Monday 10^th June 2024 (city centre, Cheetham Hill, Crumpsall, Whitefield) and Tuesday 11^th June 2024 (Anocats area).

Each of these days will take place within the usual school day - i.e. your son will register at 08:40 and we will return to school by 15:20. We will be travelling by Metrolink/foot and your son will be required to purchase a ticket himself each day. At the end of these days, students living along the Altrincham - DeansgateCastlefield line will be allowed to get off the tram at an earlier stop if appropriate, rather than returning to AGSB.
