Y12 Geography Fieldtrip to Manchester

This event will take place on 10/06/2024 until 11/06/2024

Coursework, known as the Non-Examined Assessment (NEA), is worth 20% of your son's A Level qualification.

Students will go on a residential trip to Blencathra Field Study Centre (FSC) near Keswick in the Lake District.  This will be a three-day, two-night trip (Wednesday 5th to Friday 7th).  We will travel by school mini-bus.  Accommodation, meals and resources are included in the cost.

Wednesday 5th June: Students meet at school at 07:30. Led by FSC staff, students will study glacial landforms and collect primary data to inform potential NEAs.  Students will then attend workshops to complete statistical analysis.

Thursday 6th June:  Students will investigate the carbon cycle and carbon capture.

Friday 7th June: Students will spend the day investigating the Water Cycle and rivers.  We aim to return to school at around 17:30.

Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th June: Students will undertake local human fieldwork for two days in and around Greater Manchester.

Monday 10th June 2024 (city centre, Cheetham Hill, Crumpsall, Whitefield) and Tuesday 11th June 2024 (Anocats area).

Each of these days will take place within the usual school day - i.e. your son will register at 08:40 and we will return to school by 15:20. We will be travelling by Metrolink/foot and your son will be required to purchase a ticket himself each day. At the end of these days, students living along the Altrincham - DeansgateCastlefield line will be allowed to get off the tram at an earlier stop if appropriate, rather than returning to AGSB.
