Y10 Geology Field Trip to Anglesey

This event will take place on 24/04/2024 until 26/04/2024

Field work is an essential part of studying Geology and a requirement of the exam board for the GCSE Geology course. In order to satisfy this requirement, I have arranged for the Y10 Geology classes to visit Anglesey from the 24th to the 26th of April 2024. We will leave at 09.00 on the Wednesday and return to school on Friday by 16.00. We will stay overnight at the outdoor education centre near Holyhead on the island of Anglesey. The contact details are given below:

Anglesey Outdoors,

Porthdafarch Road,

Holyhead, Anglesey, LL65 2LP

Equipment

The majority of time during the day will be spent outdoors and as such it is essential that students are dressed appropriately for the conditions we may encounter. With this in mind, warm clothes, waterproof jacket and trousers as well as a sturdy pair of walking boots are essential items. The school will provide other specialist equipment such as hard hats and compasses.

Behaviour

We will be working in some coastal sections where cliff faces and incoming tides present a significant hazard, as such it is expected that all students will carefully follow the instructions of their teachers and behave in a sensible manner. Whilst outside of the classroom it is expected that your son upholds the good name of the school at all times. Should any behaviour drop below these standards, students will be sent home via public transport and their position on future trips will be in jeopardy.
