At the end of the summer term, students and staff bid a fond farewell to Head Master, Graeme Wright, as he prepares to embark on an exciting new chapter at Old Swinford Hospital School (OSH).

Over the last eight years, Mr Wright has led the school with warmth, dedication and his characteristic good humour, working hard to ensure that AGSB is a place where exceptional academic achievement is matched by outstanding pastoral care and a wealth of opportunities beyond the classroom.

At his final assembly as Head Master of AGSB, he reflected on another exceptional year of student achievement, participation and community spirit. From national success in music, public speaking, STEM, Model United Nations and sport, to outstanding performances in drama and languages, the breadth of accomplishment across the school was remarkable.

Our outgoing Head Prefect, Tosin Ariyo, also reflected on his time at the school over the past 7 years and shared many of the fantastic experiences and opportunities which the school have provided him under the leadership of Mr Wright.

Looking back on eight years leading AGSB, Mr Wright spoke with pride and gratitude about a school that combines academic excellence with outstanding pastoral care, co-curricular opportunities and a strong commitment to developing compassionate, well-rounded young people. Thanking students, staff, parents and governors for their support, he described serving as Head Master as "the honour of my professional life".

Chair of Governors, Ann Balfour, paid tribute to his dedicated leadership and lasting contribution to the School:

"Working alongside Graeme, has been a genuine pleasure and on behalf of the governors, staff, students, and parents I would like to thank him for his unwavering service to AGSB.

Graeme's vision, inspirational leadership and energy have been evident throughout his time at AGSB. He put students at the heart of all decisions, as demonstrated by his compassionate leadership throughout the Covid pandemic. Alongside the educational challenge of a pandemic, Graeme launched the Sport of All campaign which raised over £800,000 and transformed the sporting facilities in the school.

He leaves a lasting legacy of the school house system, which benefits every student, encourages healthy competition, peer mentorship, and enables the mixing of year groups.

Graeme will be missed by us all and we wish him all the very best at the OSH."
