Y10-11 (GCSE) Curriculum
AGSB’s GCSE curriculum has been carefully designed to ensure it caters for our specific cohort. Students study between 9 and 12 GCSEs depending on their ability. It is our aim to provide sufficient challenge for the most able, whilst ensuring all individuals follow a pathway that helps them achieve the highest possible success at GCSE. We have prioritised maximum choice within the context of a broad, academic curriculum.

Students are then able to choose two or three optional subjects; two if they study the Combined Science Trilogy and three if they study separate Sciences. Students can choose their options from the following list:
GCSE Additional Challenge
Set 1 and 2 Mathematicians (half of the year group) are entered for a Further Mathematics qualification in Year 11, in addition to the Mathematics GCSE.
*All of our students study Religious Studies to AS level from Year 9, most students gain a vital insight into higher level study without being examined on the content, the most able Humanities students are given the choice about whether to be entered for AS Religious Studies in Year 11.
60 of our most able sportsmen are entered for GCSE Physical Education at the end of Year 10.
