IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING A LEVEL STATISTICS
It has been drawn to my attention today that the statistics for A level results for AGSB publicised in the Sunday Times on 13th November 2011 were incorrect. Our A*/A/B percentage at A level was 79.9%, the best results ever achieved, not the 67.7% published in the newspaper. I calculate that had the results been published correctly we would be in the top 50 of state secondaries rather than in the low 90s. Everyone in School was very pleased with our A level results and I do not want this misleading figure to take the shine off the achievements of the pupils and teachers and your impression of the excellent results gained year after year.

Exam Results 2011
Many congratulations to our students with their 'A' Level and GCSE results this year. At 'A' Level 79.5% of subject entries were at A*/A/B with 53% at A*/A. At GCSE, 69% of subject entries were at A*/A. 61% of student of students achieved 8 or more A*/A grades and 73% achieved 5 or more.

Counselling Service
We now offer a Counselling service in school. Boys can see a trained counsellor who specialises in talking through issues and problems with young people. These problems can be stress related, about peer difficulties, issues arising from problems at home or outside the home. The issues can be far ranging in their nature, but boys can see someone in the knowledge that there discussions will be entirely confidential. The feedback from parents and boys so far, during the pilot stage, has been very positive.
We will suggest to boys that there is an opportunity for them to talk things through with someone qualified if we are aware that there are issues. Often, boys can be nervous or reluctant to talk to a member of staff or may not want to talk to a parent. We will be opening this up for boys to self-refer or for parents to suggest to the school that their son see the counsellor.
Anyone wishing to avail themselves of this service should see Mr Hall or talk to their Head of Year.
Dropping off & collecting pupils from Heath Road
Dear Parent,
I have been advised by the management company acting for residents on Heath Road that an increasing number of parents are using the road to park or turn round in after dropping off or collecting their sons. As you may appreciate this has been causing some problems for local residents as they attempt to enter or leave their properties at that time.
I would be most grateful if you could consider alternative drop-off points so that we can avoid any further conflict in this area.
Kind regards,
Mr T J Gartside
