Geography At AGSB

Geography is taught throughout KS3, KS4 and Sixth Form. Below you will find information of what is taught in the different stages.

KS3
The work that is taught in this stage is guided by National Curriculum In Year 7 pupils focus on mapwork, settlement site and location and the North West Region.

KS4
Students study many aspects of geography including:

Bullet Places

EarthBullet Themes
Bullet Problem Solving
Bullet Modern and Past Geography

Through out the course students use a variety of ICT, Mapwork and fieldwork to give them as much experience as possible.

 

KS5 (Sixth Form)

Bullet When taking Geography at A-Level students are offered a number of different skills to learn
Bullet IT skills - word processing, speadsheets, CD-ROMs, the internet and Geographic information systems.
Bullet A large range of job opportunities.
Bullet How to use primary and secondary data, analysis and evaluation, report writing and research.

Students are given the opportunity to take part in a number of field trips, allowing them to put their new found skills to use as well as learning new skills along the way. There is also the opportunity to take part in lectures and conferences to hear what others in the industry have to say.
