Unit Seven - Religion and Medical Ethics

(a) Describe the teachings of the religion which you are studying about the sanctity of life in relation to abortion and euthanasia.(40)

(b) Explain how a religious person might respond to someone who was thinking of committing suicide. (35)

(c) 'Animals have served a great purpose in medical research and their use should continue'. Do you agree? Give reasons for your answer and show that you have considered other points of view. (25)

To answer these questions, refer to the relevant pages in your textbooks, class notes as well as other media you have used (such as video, the Internet, Library books etc.).

For part (b) write in general terms about how someone might respond, but also include particular examples to illustrate the point

In part (c) you should argue from both points of view before coming to a conclusion in order to achieve the top level available.
