The GCSE course is studied throughout years 9 – 11, at the end of which boys will take either the full course Religious Studies examination or the short course Religious Education examination. The course studied is that offered by OCR, with an emphasis on philosophical and ethical considerations of religion.
Topics covered in each year are as follows:
| Year 9 | Year 10 | Year 11 |
| The Nature of God | Good and Evil | Religion and Human Relationships |
| The Nature of Belief | Death and the Afterlife | Religion and Medical Ethics |
| Religion and Science | Religion and Equality | Religion, Poverty and Wealth |
| Religion, Peace and Justice |
There are two one-hour lessons per fortnight. Since time is very limited, boys are expected to take some responsibility for their own learning. Homeworks will be set regularly for each unit and will act as consolidation of classwork as well as preparation for an end-of-unit assignment which should be prepared and completed during the term.
Details of each assignment are available on the menu to the right and will be explained by your teacher. At present years 10 and 11 will do the assignments as and when your teacher thinks fit. Year 9 will be given dates by which work must be finished.
