Outline of Languages on offer

Year 7
2 forms take French and German, 2 forms take German Spanish, and 2 forms take Spanish and French.

Years 8 and 9
Pupils carry on with both languages. At the end of Year 9 pupils decide their options, a Modern Language is compulsory but pupils choose which they want to carry on with to GCSE. They can, of course, take two languages if they wish.

Years 10 and 11
Pupils work towards GCSE. Our Examination Board is Edexcel

6th Form
In Year 12 pupils can take AS Level in any of the three languages (French, German, Spanish), and continue in Year 13 at A2 Level.

The Examination Board for French is AQA; for German and Spanish we use OCR.

Setting
a) At the end of Year 7 pupils are 'setted' according to ability in French, German and Spanish.
b) After options at the end of Year 9, pupils are placed in sets according to ability in the language(s) they have chosen to take for GCSE.

Fast Tracking
The top sets in French, German and Spanish will take GCSE a year early i.e. at the end of Year 10. In Year 11 we offer a business language course

Other Courses
French for Business is offered to students in Year 12.

Trips
There are French, German and Spanish trips each year during Activities Week in July.

Work Experience
6th form students are able to do their Work Experience in France, Germany or Spain.
