Primary Liaison
Members of staff have run Science activities at some of our feeder Primary Schools. We have also run some activities using our school laboratories both during school time and at the Science Master Classes which took place after school in March time.
Science/Language Day

This has run for 2 consecutive years, it is where primary school pupils come to take part in Language and Science activities.
Café Scientifique ![]()
This was a new venture launched in 2010. Sixth Formers organised for external speakers to come into school and give a presentation about an interesting scientific topic. This topic was then explored further through an informal group discussion. So far presentations have included topics such as "The Arsonist, The Martian, The Cat and The Coke" "Reach for the stars and I will tell you how to fly on Mars. We would like volunteers to come forward to give informative discussions in the future.
University Links ![]()
A representative from the University of Manchester held a Cardiopulmonary fitness Workshop, which involved using problem-based learning to work out the issues involved in various scenarios. It proved to be a very interesting session, which was enjoyed by all.
Nuffield Bursary Scheme ![]()
The Nuffield Bursary Scheme has been running for a number of years. It gives year 12 students the opportunity to carry out a research project for several weeks through the summer holidays. The projects are based at a research establishment, often a university.
Darwin Day 2010 
This deep learning day was run by the Biology Department and involved a number of other departments within school running activities with a" Darwin" based theme. One of the workshops was run by representatives from the Manchester Museum.
